DARREN KELLY: Ecstatic after derby day delight

I was ecstatic with Tuesday night’s superb win over our derby rivals Whitby Town - the performance for 80 minutes was fantastic.

Whitby are a good side who will do well this season, they have a good pairing up top in Fewster and Hazel and they started really strong and could’ve been out of sight early on.

After the first 10 minutes we controlled the match.

I thought we came into it after about 10 minutes, Lewis Turner had a good chance before Michael Coulson scored a superb equaliser.

Ashley Jackson’s cross for the winner was absolutely superb too - and Nathan Cartman did what he does best and put the ball in the back of the net.

We absolutely deserved to win the game though and the performance was fantastic from the players.

I was exhausted after the game.

I live and breath the game on the sidelines whether we win, lose or draw and even more so for a derby match like Tuesday night’s.

I spoke to The Scarborough News on my way home from Buxton last week and I was down and didn’t get much sleep afterwards - playing the game through my head over and over again.

Tuesday I had that adrenaline from winning a big derby match and I was wired all the way home.

I went to celebrate with the fans after the game and somehow lost my hat - but I don’t mind too much!

It was great to have Coulo back with us.

Right from the start he showed his class and also how important he is to the team.

He came off with a bit of cramp late on, but he hasn’t played much football so that is understandable.

Neal Bishop was fantastic. He just grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and showed his experience leading from the front.

Carts is showing what a quality striker he is.Not just his goals, but he brings so much to the side on and off the ball.

I have to finish by praising our wonderful supporters. I’ve said so many times that football is nothing without the fans.

The FA Cup game against Ashton was an experience I don’t want to go through again.

Getting our fans back in the stadium is a huge, huge boost for us.
