Spence, who left Boro after an unsuccessful trial period with York City recently, has been on loan with the National League outfit for a couple of weeks.
The former Middlesbrough youngster has been seeking a return to full time football in pre-season and has been trying to catch the eye of Shaymen boss Pete Wild.
Halifax boss Wild said: "He's been on trial for the last couple of weeks with us.
"We need to make a decision on him, he's done well while he's been with us, we'll see where that takes us."
