Smyth said: “We are all looking forward to the final. My only real fitness worry for both games is pacy young forward Zac Hansen, who is recovering from a knee injury, otherwise we have a full squad to choose from.

“After losing out to Whitby RFC last year in the final, who also did the double, we know we are in for a tough game against a championship-winning side looking for a double success.

“Seamer are a very good side, which includes some of the old Eastfield first division team, such as Matty Drury, Matty Dawson, Kris Tate, as well as top striker Gareth Sygrove, but we drew 4-4 against them earlir this season so we have nothing to fear.”

He added: “The pitch was a bit hard last season as we had not had a lot of rain and it spoiled the final against Whitby RFC but hopefully with all this rain we have had this week the surface will be a lot better for us on Monday.”

The unsung hero for Seamer this season has been veteran Gary Walters, who has bagged 13 goals in 22 matches, but half of these games have been as a super-sub.
