Filey Holt seal Plate silverware success

Filey overcame Seamer, Eastfield and drew with Durham County to reach the Plate Final.

The final was a thrilling match, Beamish put Filey under the cosh, but Thomas Richardson and Austin Thompson were both outstanding in defence, denying Beamish with some tough tackling and fine blocks.

Filey eventually got a grip of the game, combative Logan Tuck setting up chances for Lewis Cammish and Oscar Jenninson, but were both denied by Beamish.

Milly Craven came off the bench to add extra impetus, but neither team could break the deadlock.

The dreaded penalty shoot-out followed, Kobi Crawford and Jay Marsh were both deadly accurate and Sutton Greening saved to ensure the victory for Filey.

Heslerton Under-10s Pirates got the perfect start against Seamer Sharks when Jack Smith scored from long-range, but the visitors struck back twice before half-time.

The second half saw Pirates threaten on several occasions, but they couldn’t find a way past an in-form keeper.

Game two saw Malachey Kendrew score on the stroke of half-time and Jack Smith increase the lead in the second half for a Pirates victory.

The whole team was awarded man of the match for two solid battling performances.

Heslerton Under-11s welcomed Ayton on Friday evening.

The away team looked most dangerous in the first half, Jake Allardice producing a string of fine saves before eventually being beaten.

After the break Heslerton pulled back level through Myles Johnson and Matt Moss, only for the away team to regain the lead then add to their total with a sublime free-kick.

Man of the match Rio Howden pulled one back late on lobbing the Ayton keeper.

Heslerton Under-12s welcomed Seamer for a double-header and produced two very exciting games.

Game one saw goals from James Bradbury and Charlie Swiers, before Seamer pulled one back.

Myles Johnson restored the two-goal cushion before Seamer pulled another one back, however Heslerton clung on for victory.

Oliver Botterill was man of the match.

The second game again saw Bradbury netting twice, each time Seamer finding an equaliser, before Johnson again popped up with the winner.

Jake Allardice was man of the match.

Heslerton Under-14s took the honours against Copmanthorpe in a keenly-contested clash.

The Blues took the lead through powerhouse forward Jayden Isaac, the goal coming after good work from midfield pairing Hayden Williamson and Sam Owen.

Ben Robinson doubled the lead soon after, only for the home side to halve the deficit from a corner.

Brad Spiller made a crucial save before the break to send the visitors in with a half-time lead.

On a boggy pitch, both sides won their share of tackles.

Ben Flinton increased Heslerton’s lead, with further goals from Isaac and Robinson sandwiched around another Copmanthorpe strike.

Man of the match honours were shared by Charlie Richardson and Dylan Fawcett, who both showed a good range of passing mixed in with a strong work ethic.
