Foot may be in line for Richmond test

Scarborough Athletic joint-manager Paul Foot may be pulling his boots out of the cupboard ahead of Wednesday night’s North Riding FA Senior Cup home clash against Richmond Town.

Boro will be without the suspended Nathan Peat on Saturday at Witton Albion and Dean Lisles is still two weeks away, so former Scarborough FC and North Ferriby man Foot may be in the running to replace him.

The absence of Peat at the weekend could mean that either Foot or Joe Lamplough could be given time at centre-back against Richmond to warm them up for the Evo-Stik North game.

Foot said: “We are looking at who could come in and fill that gap at Witton.

“Dean is still two weeks away. He rushed himself back before and that put him out for a long time. He wants to help us out, but at the same time he has to be selfish.

“I may be an option to come in, we could look at Joe there or we could have a look at loans.”

Foot does believe that the key thing for Boro is to beat Richmond, which will supply his team with a much-needed shot of confidence.

“The priority is to go out there and win this game,” added Foot.

“There will be no thinking that certain players need games under their belt for fitness, we definitely won’t be taking this lightly.

“Richmond will see that we are on a bad run and they’ll know that our heads may be down, so they’ll be trying everything to get into us.

“We need to give this game and Richmond the respect that they deserve.”
