Middleton, 25, has joined Grantham from Vanarama National League North outfit Boston United, in a move which will see him reunite with manager Martin McIntosh, who he had a loan spell under at Buxton.

Middleton made 74 starting appearances for Boro, scoring seven goals after joining from York City, initially playing at right-back before making the move into the centre of defence.

After winning the Most Improved Player accolade in 2013/14, Middleton's performances in 2014/15 led to him being awarded the Players’ player of the year trophy.
