The 39-year-old midfielder initially departed Scarborough FC in 2006, progressing on to play for York City, Barnet, Notts County, Blackpool, Scunthorpe and Mansfield Town, making over 500 Football League appearances.

He recently retired from the professional game and after a conversation with Boro boss Darren Kelly, he has opted to sign for the Seadogs.

During his time at the McCain Stadium Bishop played 34 games, scoring one goal in the 3-1 win against Halifax.

A delighted Kelly said: "I have watched Neal play through the years, right up until last season, when he turned out in League Two for Mansfield.

"Quality and experience are key areas that I have been looking to add into the squad, Bish brings stacks and stacks of both.

"We are delighted to get a player like Neal Bishop at Scarborough and I am really looking forward to working with him."
