Richard Ponter was at the Scarborough Sports Village to catch some of the action from the action-packed encounter.
Mo Fadera put Boro in control with a couple of opportunistic efforts and centre-back also scored from close-range to make it 3-0 to the rampant Seadogs at the break.
Top scorer Rio Allan fired in a fourth goal for the hosts early in the second half, and although Southport hit back with a consolation goal, the four-goal lead was restored thanks to Allan’s great run and superb finish from the edge of the box.
