Assenso was forced off in Saturday’s 1-0 win at boss Darren Kelly’s former club Hyde United and the manager expects him to be out for a number of weeks.

“Isaac was forced off with a knee problem on Saturday and is likely to be out for a few weeks, which comes as a blow as he has been playing well recently,” said boss Kelly.

The Boro manager is boosted by the return of wing-back Josh Barrett, who has been suffering with a bout of flu and was an unused sub against Redcar Athletic on Tuesday night as Kelly’s men won 3-0 to move into the semi-finals of the North Riding County FA Senior Cup.

“Josh was suffering with the flu and battled through Saturday, but he was an unused sub on Tuesday,” added Kelly.

“In an ideal world I would have told him to stay at home, but we were short on numbers so he filled in.”

Kelly is hoping to draft in two new additions ahead of Saturday’s visit of Bamber Bridge.

“I’m hoping to do some business this week and get in a couple of new signings,” added the Boro boss, who has won nine of his 14 games since taking charge after the sacking of John Deacey.

“We are a little bit light on numbers in the squad so I am keen to add to it ahead of the Bamber game.”

The Boro manager also confirmed the loan of Rotherham United forward Jacob Gratton has been cancelled early without him making an appearance for the club.

The young Millers man has returned to the League One club after struggling to make an impact at Boro.

“Young Jacob has returned to Rotherham,” confirmed Kelly.
