Jacob's cracker wraps up Boro win


Steve Kittrick's side made the breakthrough in the second half of a quiet contest and hung on to keep themselves in the hunt.
Boro made a positive start to the game against their fellow play-off contenders, pinning the Derbyshire side back for much of the first period.

Hide AdAfter a number of half-chances, striker Hazel was handed the first real opportunity when the danced past the last Glossop defender.
Having shaped neatly on the edge of the box, he dragged his shot past the keeper but wide of the target.
Cameron Murray then forced a fine save out of Glossop's Matthew Cooper as Boro continued to turn the screw.
Glossop tried to take the pressure off, slowing the game down with some inventive theatrics, which tended to unimpress referee Mr Guest.

Hide AdDespite this, Boro finished the half well and were unlucky not to move ahead.
Benny Igiehon burst clear of the visiting defence, but saw his shot blocked. The striker then looped a header from the resulting corner at goal, but Cooper plucked it out of the top corner.
Glossop began to come into the game more when the second half got underway.
Nick Platt looked to have broken the deadlock when free six yards from goal, but he drove a shot straight into the grateful hands of keeper Green.

Hide AdBoro defender Jamie Price had to hack the ball off his own line, before Karl Jones steamed clear for Glossop, but his delivery into the box, after rounding Green, was poor.
Having soaked up the pressure, Boro finally struck, with a contender for the goal of the season.
Hazel collected 30 yards from goal and crashed it into the top corner of the Glossop net.
Boro could have stretched their lead further in the minutes that followed, as they were presented with two great chances.

Hide AdHazel's stab at goal was cleared by the foot of Cooper, then Matty Turnbull rose in the box, but he powered his header over from very close range.
The industrious James Cadman then struck a shot just over the bar with Cooper beaten.
Boro threw on Niall Flint and Jameel Ible in the final moments to add a little more stability to their defensive line.
This worked a treat, with Boro seeing out the game comfortably and booking a vitally important three points.
