Joint-boss Foot wary of under-performing Farsley

Scaborough Athletic joint-manager Paul Foot hopes his team can carry their battling performance from the game against Whitby into Saturday’s trip to a Farsley side who are struggling for results.

The Leeds-based side were up at the right end of the table for most of last season, but a dip in form at the back end of the season saw them achieve a 12th placed finish.

Their poor start to the season means nothing as boss Foot knows this league is full of surprises. He said: “Farsley are a team that have been around a long time, they have experience all over the pitch, but they’re going through a blip just like we did and they will be looking to put it right on Saturday.

“This league can be unpredictable and at times teams who last year were up there are finding themselves struggling this time around like Droylsden, Harrogate Railway and Bamber Bridge, who were play-off finalists last year.

“Witton Albion came down from the league above and even they’re having a tough time, which just shows anyone can beat anyone in this league.”

The joint-boss was also pleased with his team selection and also the formation used against Whitby.

He added: “We played 4-4-2 on Tuesday night and we kept our shape and did the right things and it just proved that this formation can work for us.”

Foot has selection headaches this weekend with Paul Robson and Joe Fox knocking on the door for a recall after injury, he also has defender Joe Lamplough and midfielder Matty Bloor, who both put in solid displays on their returns against Whitby, available for action.

“We will have to look at Joe after he played a solid 90 minutes, also Matty Bloor came in after six months out injured and got a good 45/50 minutes and made us a better team with his performance,” added Foot.
