Junior Football: Ayton edge out Dale

Ayton Under-10s made the trip to take on Thornton Dale.

After an even start, Ayton opened the scoring through a neat Alfie Thomas finish and shortly after scored again through another long-range piledriver from Jack Townsend.

Thornton Dale replied just before half-time to make it 2-1 at the break.

Ten minutes into the second half Thornton equalised with a good counter-attacking goal, then a clever goal from new signing Hayden Wilson quickly restored Ayton’s lead.

Soon after good finishes from Edwyn Elliot-Hobson and Josh Borrie, then a great finish from Thomas completed the scoring and a victory for Ayton.

Harry Pinder was named man of the match for Ayton for an outstanding performance in goal for the victors.

Heslerton Under-Nines took on Seamer.

The first match was a great encounter and goals from Jack McDougal (2), Jamie Moss, and Oscar Walmsley ensured Heslerton won a hard-fought contest.

The second match was also a great game with chances at both ends.

But goals from Jamie Moss and Walmsley saw Heslerton win this one too.

Parents’ player of the match this week went to McDougal and man of the match was Walmsley.

Heslerton Under-11s welcomed Hunmanby on Sunday and in the blustery conditions it was the hosts’ own whirlwind Myles Johnson who stole the show with a hat-trick to see the home team victorious after an entertaining encounter.

Man of the match went to Beck Hutchinson for a battling display.

Heslerton Under-15s welcomed Haxby Town to Sand Lane for a 1-1 draw.

In a tight affair the visitors took the lead before the returning Tyler Green equalised for the home side.

The second half saw both teams go close to adding to their tally, Tom Stockdale hitting the bar and Olaf Mazur forcing a fine save from the visiting keeper, but honours remained even and the sides shared the spoils.
