Kittrick's big plans for return to town

This comes after Scarborough Borough Council confirmed that Boro’s new home at the £15million Weaponness-based leisure village is on track to be finished in time for summer of 2017.Progress is clear for fans to see from Seamer Road, as the roof has gone on and the structure is taking shape.And Boro boss Kittrick can’t wait for the big move.He said: “Our plan was to be in the Evo-Stik Premier when we get back to Scarborough and it still is.“We want to push on over the next couple of years and bring Conference North football back to Scarborough.“The crowds will be better, there are more opportunities for sponsorship and we won’t be playing in somebody else’s back yard. We will have our own identity as Scarborough Athletic.“A lot of things have to be worked on and put in place before it happens, but it is a very positive time for the club.“We have to look at teams like Salford and Darlington to see what they have achieved and we have to follow that format.“Returning home will give us a boost on the field as well, because it will allow us to bring in the bigger players, we will be fishing in a completely different pond.”SBC’s projects manager Chris Bourne said:“Things are coming along nicely and we remain on programme to open in summer of next year.“You can see the ground taking shape now, the roof is on, the structure of the stand behind the goal is now built and the pitch area is being brought up to level to commence its construction later in the year.“Things are all looking very positive, it is an exciting time for football and all sport in Scarborough.”
