KITTRICK'S COMMENT: Time to crack down on lax attitudes

Coming into the club I have been shocked by many things that are going on.

I was informed by Chris Bolder that the club have been getting no more than 10 players to training sessions this season, which I find very surprising.

We had 17 lads there on Tuesday night and they were all grafting hard, so that’s a good start to things going forward.

Saturday’s game was frustrating as I can see that a lot of the problems stem from lack of confidence.

Stupid mistakes potentially cost us from putting a stop to the poor run of form against one of the league’s in-form sides in Bamber Bridge.

We’ll have to make sure we put a stop to that in future, but it’s not going to be easy.

I said this week that this is the hardest challenge of my managerial career to date and that’s the truth.

We are low on numbers in the squad and we have a lot of young lads in there too.

I’ve been told that we have a few lads who can’t come this week because they are working.

That is something that I have never encountered before, so that was a bit of an eye-opener for me personally.

The trip to Kendal isn’t going to comfortable.

The pitch won’t be in great condition and the guys will really have to knuckle down and get stuck in.

We’re not going to change things overnight at Scarborough Athletic.

Like I said at the weekend, Rome wasn’t built in a day and we won’t turn fortunes around without a lot of hard work, changes throughout the club and getting a few experienced players through the door.

I don’t want to get lads in for the sake of it. I’ve made enquiries for three experienced players who have played for me before who I think will make a real difference, and hopefully they’ll be joining us shortly.

Thanks for reading
