Lacklustre Scarborough Athletic dumped out of the FA Cup after defeat at home to Ashton United
Boro made a slow start and after a couple of warnings, Tom Benthall nipped in to lob a stranded Lloyd Allinson to open the scoring.

Hide AdThe hosts warmed up and had a couple of half chances, these were spurned by Ryan Watson and Bailey Gooda.
Back came Ashton again, further forays into the Boro half resulted in efforts being blocked and deflected away with the hosts living dangerously.
Darren Kelly's men ought to have levelled when a floated corner found Harry Coates in space in the six yard box, but he planted his header straight at Dan Eccles in the Ashton net.

Hide AdBoro continued to improve in the latter stages of the first half, and ought to have levelled when Watson's sublime free-kick found Cartman in space, but he guided his header the wrong side of the post and the hosts trailed at the interval.
A feisty start to the second half saw Boro huff and puff, but their final ball was clinical enough to create any clear cut chances.
Boro ought to have dragged themselves level, Coates again finding space in the box, but he powered his header straight at Eccles, who didn't know much about it.

Hide AdThey were then further hampered in their quest to draw level, after another melee between the two sets of players, referee Mr M Wright brandished a red card to Boro midfielder Kieran Glynn.
The game was killed off when Ben Hardcastle slipped in between the Boro centre-backs and Allinson couldn't keep his effort out and the hosts limped out of the competition, missing out on £2,250 prize money.
Boro will now switch their attentions to Saturday's NPL clash at FC United of Manchester.
