Logan’s run maintains Pickering’s up-turn in form
Pickering Town striker Billy Logan has some big targets for the remaining months of the NCEL Premier season.
Logan’s run of seven goals in five games has helped ease the Pikes’ worries and now they are firmly focused on a push into the top half of the table.
The striker’s latest goal game in Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to Heanor Town, and after that sixth-minute strike Pickering dug in to hold onto the three points.
“I just want to keep it up now. I have been given the chance and I think I’ve taken it,” said Logan.
“I couldn’t get into it before because I was being played right-back, left-back or on the wing by the previous manager.
“Now I’ve been given a consistent run of games by Tony Hackworth and that is all that I needed.
“The good thing now is the fact that we are all playing for each other as well.
“It just seems like we have no pressure on us when we go out there.
“We had a massive game against Heanor on Saturday, everyone dug in and we won the game.
“Before that it was a case of we’ll score two goals and the other team will score four.”
Pickering return to action this weekend with a derby clash against Logan’s former club Bridlington Town.
This is the return fixture of the game that saw Logan return to the Pikes from Scarborough League football back in August.
He added: “I came back to Pickering for the game against Brid earlier this season, we drew 1-1, but it was one we should have won.
“They are a young, fit team, but I don’t see why we can’t go out there and beat them this time.
“It wasn’t too hard slotting back into this level of football from Saturday League football, it came natural really, you just raise your game.
“I’m just happy to be playing now and scoring goals, you can’t ask for much more.
“If I’m setting targets for the rest of the season I think we should be looking anywhere near the top six or eight of the table.
“Obviously we would have been aiming higher, but the bad start to the season cost us.
“Personally I’ll be looking to scoring 20-plus goals this season, I’d be very happy with that return.”
