Manager Nathan Haslam hails battling Blues’ team spirit ahead of Liversedge clash

The Seasiders battled to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Atherton Collieries last weekend to lift them out of the Northern Premier League Premier Division bottom four, writes Paul Connolly.

And the Whitby manager knows the challenge that lies ahead, but believes the togetherness of the group will play a big part on achieving their goals.

“The challenge for us this weekend is to make it back-to-back wins,” Haslam said.

“Myself and my staff know the lads have each other’s backs.

"We can sense that in the dressing room and we can see it on the pitch.

“It’s positive for us moving forward, as you need a group like that if you want to get out of the situation that we’re in and move up the table.”

The Seasiders currently sit seventh in the league form table over the last ten matches, having chalked up five wins and a draw in that time.

And the Whitby boss is confident that at their current rate of picking up points, they should be okay come the end of the campaign.

“I’ve heard very recently every game we play is a must-win game,” Haslam added.

“But you want to win every game you’re in, so they all are.

“Unfortunately over the course of a season you can’t do that, and it’s something we’ve found a challenge this campaign.

“It’s a case of building consistency now. We’ve picked up six wins over the last 12 games, so it’s a decent return.

“It’s good going in this league, so we need to just keep going and irrespective of the next few games, if we keep that up we’ll be absolutely fine come the end of the season.”

Town are set to do their bit for the community in the build-up to Christmas, helping those most in need with a donation point at the ground for Whitby Food Bank.

The Blues will be accepting donations in the club shop for the food bank at their next two home matches against Hyde (December 6) and Matlock (December 10).

People can also drop donations off at the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground through the day Monday to Friday.
