MINOR LEAGUE: Hunmanby edge to 4-3 win against Heslerton

Heslerton Juniors Under-14s gave themselves a mountain to climb after gifting Hunmanby three early goals.

Goals before the interval from Ollie Stanton and Joseph Richardson got Heslerton Under-14s back into the game and Olaf Mazur made it 3-3 early in the second period, before Hunmanby took the lead once more.

A fine finish from man of the match Roman Butterfield squared things up once more before the home side scored in the final minutes from a free- kick.

FC Seamer Stormers Under-14s won 8-0 against Newlands Park Under-14s.

Stormers made it six wins out of six with the comfortable victory.

A well-organised and resolute Newlands team limited Stormers’ chances in the first half with Newlands keeper also making some fine saves.

The deadlock was finally broken by a superb 25-yard strike by Jensen Bradbury giving Stormers the lead.

Further goals by forwards Jamie Hilton and Josh Smith increased Stormers’ lead to 3-0 at half-time.

In the second half Stormers pulled away with a further goal from Bradbury before a well-taken penalty by Tom Shepherdson made it 5-0.

Jamie Hilton got his second after cleverly heading over the advancing keeper and Dan Monkman made it 7-0 after finding himself free in the box.

Jack Gomersall rounded off the win to make it 8-0 with lovely strike from just inside the box that nestled into the bottom corner.

A young Ayton Under-14s team travelled to Carr Lane to face an in-form Scalby Under-14s team.

Liam Coulson’s first hat-trick for a number of years set Scalby on their way.

Reuben Staveley also got three and doubles from Connor Avison and Ted Edwards plus a goal from man of match Louis Kille and Oliver Backhouse completed the 12-0 scoreline.

Full credit to Ayton, who never stopped working all game.

Heslerton edged a humdinger of an encounter, although it was the home side who had the better of the early exchanges.

Kirkby stretched the Hawks defence before carving out an opener following a neat one-two.

Josh Robertson shone in the Hawks’ defence, as did Finn Bricusse on the left, who found Tom Sellars-Horsley for the equaliser.

The introduction of Jayden Isaac saw the Hawks take the lead when he side-footed past the outstanding Kirkby keeper, who made a string of athletic saves.

Eventually Sellars-Horsley curled in a second, fed by man of the match Sam Owen, who kept driving the midfield forward with his tireless running.

There was still time for Kirkby to hit the post as the Hawks hung on to take the points.

Heslerton Under-12s continued their impressive home form with an 8-3 win over Flamborough.

Controlling the game from the start, Heslerton played some excellent football to lead 4-1 at half-time through a Billy Keough hat-trick and captain Henry Ware.

Hayden Williamson and Sam Snow extended Heslerton’s lead after the break before Flamborough scored twice more.

Heslerton’s defence, led superbly by player of the match Jessica Dade held firm, and further goals from Williamson and James Brooke completed the victory.

Scholes Park Raiders Under-12s won 5-1 at Pickering Pikes.

Raiders went 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes with goals from midfield players Charlie Doubtfire-Langfield and Reuben Hartley.

However Pikes fought back and secured a goal before half-time to give themselves hope at the break.

The second half saw some great play from Raiders defence which kept Pickering off the scoresheet.

Scholes were pushing on for more goals and this resulted in a further two from Doubtfire-Langfield, wrapping up his hat-trick.

Jamie Cross grabbed another to wrap up the scoring.

Heslerton Heroes Under-Sevens took on Holt Under-Sevens.

A brilliant goal from player of the match Archie Pilmoor and a penalty save from captain Tom Gibson were the highlights of this game.

Harry Massheder took the player of the match award with a brilliant football display, while Lee Cappleman scored for the Heroes against his old team.

FC Seamer Scorpions Under-Sevens took on Scholes Park Raiders Under-Sevens.

Scorpions pressed high and didn’t stop chasing the ball all game and their goals came from Jayden Simpson, Oliver Korwicki and Charlie Hughes.

Men of the match were Zach Lloyd and Frazier Gautier.

Heslerton Under-Eights Jaguars travelled to Seamer and although the score went against them the performance, effort and behaviour of the Jaguars was first class.

Alfie Rouph and Harley Bott played so well in defence together, Jack MacDougall ensured Seamer had no time on the ball and were limited to long-range shots and Ryan Cooper, joined by Aaron Walton, chased and made some fantastic tackles.

Joey Palmer, as ever, was solid in goal and tireless when he came outfield.

Heslerton Hedgehogs Under-Eights travelled to Whitby Under-Eights.

The first match finished with goals from Dylan Oxendale, Eli Howden, Jamie Moss and Noah Johnson.

The second match finished with goals from Dylan Oxendale, John Mathers, Luke Allardice, Noah Johnson and Eli Howden.

Parents’ player of the match was Eli Howden and man of the match went to John Mathers.

Heslerton Under-Nines Pirates hosted Heslerton Buccaneers for the first derby of the season.

Jack Smith gave the hosts a half-time lead before Kai Wilson and Kenzie Palliser scored in the second half despite some great saves from Buccaneers keeper Ben Ellis.

Man of the match was Malachey Kendrew.

A wonder-goal from Oliver Dade and a Kendrew strike earned the Pirates a draw on game two, Dade was man of the match.

Heslerton Under-10s travelled to Ayton for a friendly and put in the performance of the season against a very strong outfit.

Goals from Charlie Swiers, Ryan Sellers and an own goal saw the Blues home safely.

In the second game a solitary goal for the home side took the spoils with Ethan Sellers putting in a lung-busting performance.
