Minute’s silence for league stalwart Sid

League secretary John Orrah has requested that all Saturday League clubs hold a minute’s silence before this week’s games for former president Sid Wiffen, who passed away last week.

Orrah said: “Sid was a league stalwart and president for over 30 years and was a near ever-present at finals, where he presented many medals and trophies as well as presenting at many club’s trophy evenings.

“He was a fantastic gentleman and a great committee member who will be sorely missed.”

His funeral is 2pm at St Mary’s Church on Monday November 30.
