Dan Sheader’s side beat Village Park Rangers on penalties in the final of the delayed 2019/20 competition at the end of August to lift the trophy, and they’ll be keen to see off the Hambleton Football Combination outfit to keep their hopes of defending their crown alive.

Newlands boss Dan Sheader is looking forward to getting their Challenge Cup campaign under way but admits his side will travel Romanby with an under-strength squad due to injuries and unavailability.

“We’ve got quite a few missing for this Sunday, and they’re supposed to be a strong side we are playing too,” said Sheader.

“We don’t have our strongest side available but it is what it is and we want to try and win the competition again, but we will have to just take it a game at a time.

“Ryan Matson and Aidan McCallion will miss out with Ben Luntley and Dan Freer a doubt too.”

Four other Scarborough Sunday League sides are in Challenge Cup action.
