Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town forced to play the waiting game as NPL decision delayed

The Trident Leagues, including the Northern Premier League which Scarborough Athletic and Whitby Town play in, have decided to delay any decisions on returning to action until Wednesday's Government Tier review.

The NPL website statement said: "The Trident Leagues (the Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Football Leagues) welcome the decision to allow some fans into grounds situated in Tier 3 areas.

"However, in light of the decision of all 224 Clubs only last week to vote overwhelmingly in favour of suspending the current season the Leagues have decided to wait to see the implications of the Government’s review of the Tier system in England – due next Wednesday - before making any further announcements."

The NCEL, the level below the NPL which includes Bridlington Town, decided to resume their season this Saturday, December 19, only a few hours after last Thursday's announcement by the FA of a return of fans to clubs in Tier 3 areas. The Trident Leagues have decided to wait longer before making any decisions on a restart of their matches,
