Scarborough Athletic assistant Jimmy Beadle relishing derby clash with Whitby Town

Beadle has enjoyed multiple spells with both clubs and the new assistant manager admits he can't wait for Tuesday night's NPL clash.

"I'm really looking forward to the derby on Tuesday night," said Beadle.

"I had some great times with Whitby Town and I'm looking forward to catching up with a few of them that are still there.

"It's a great game to be a part of and I can't wait to experience it as assistant manager of Scarborough."

The player-assistant manager is relishing his new role, which saw him sprung into the manager's hot-seat last Saturday at WittonAlbion due to an illness to boss Darren Kelly.

"It was a huge honour to manage Scarborough last week, especially at my age," added Beadle.

"I didn't know if Darren was on the wind up when he phoned me, but I met him on the A64 to collect the equipment and he looked dreadful, I was surprised he'd managed to drive to meet us.

"It didn't faze me at all. I speak to the lads every game anyway and I like to think I have the respect from them too, so it was just a bit more responsibility than usual.

"I am absolutely loving the role though and am learning from Darren all the time which can only help me going forward."

Beadle is happy with how Boro have started the season, adding: "It's been tough and a bit strange having to play all those away games to start with, but I think we've done alright.

"We want to get more points on the board on Tuesday and I think that will represent a decent start to the season for us."

Beadle admits he doesn't expect to be taking to the field too much this season, but he is happy with that arrangement.

"I'll be ready to come off the bench if needed, but I'm really enjoying being assistant manager and love it on the sidelines," he added.

"I'm always at training and ticking over, but we have some good players in the squad and I'm happy doing my bit from the sidelines."
