Scarborough Athletic boss Darren Kelly keen to draft in new signings

Scarborough Athletic boss Darren Kelly is hoping to conclude a trio of loan signings to bolster his squad ahead of Saturday’s visit of Matlock Town.

Kelly is confident of bringing in a centre-back and two attacking players in good time for the visit of former Boro manager Steve Kittrick’s side on Saturday.

“We’re light on numbers with a few niggles in the squad and also with Connor (Thomson) going back to Gateshead, so I’m keen to bring in some fresh faces,” said Kelly.

“I’ve been working hard to try and bring a few new faces on loan and we’re close to getting three wrapped up to hopefully slot into the squad for Saturday.

“There may be one or two more to follow next week too as we need to bring players in to create competition for places at the club.”

Kelly insists he won’t be moving any players on despite drafting in new recruits, but he admits there will be some players who will have to fight for their shirt.

“Nobody will be leaving but there will be more competition and I hope players will fight for their places,” he added.

Kelly couldn’t wait to get back into training after missing a few weeks while away on holiday in South Africa.

He added: “I’ve never been hungrier to get stuck in and get to work than I do right now.

“I missed it while I was away and it was great to get back out on the training pitch and catch up with all the players on Tuesday.

“Saturday will be a tough game, Steve (Kittrick) will want to come and win, it’s up to us to worry about ourselves and put in a performance.”
