Speaking during Boro's virtual fan's forum on Saturday night, Kelly confirmed he has held discussions with the former Darlington and Farsley striker with a view to bringing him to the Flamingo Land Stadium next season.

"I've admired Nathan Cartman for a number of years now, he's a proven goalscorer at this level," said Kelly.

"I had a chat with him, I've spoken to him, I'd be foolish not to because of what he can bring to the team and I think he would fit in well in our team.

"Like I say I have had a chat with him and tried to sell him our USP (unique selling point), which is the opportunity to play in front of fantastic supporters, over 1,000 at every home game at our fantastic stadium, and the training and professionalism and everything we do behind the scenes from a training aspect as well.

"Also how I can try to develop his game as well, even at his age, is a USP for him too.

"I've made an offer to him, but as we know a proven player like that will have great options.

"I think he'll have five, six or seven clubs all vying for his signature, but I have put everything to him within the budget I am looking to work towards.

"So I am just hoping he'll buy into the vision and the money will be a secondary issue. I think he'd be a great addition to the side and I will have another chat with him next week."
