Boro's hosts Basford are second in the Pitching In NPL standings behind pacesetters Warrington and head into the clash on the back of a 1-0 win at Stalybridge on Saturday.

Athletic were without a fixture on Saturday after their game at Matlock Town was postponed due to the hosts having a positive Covid-19 case within their squad.

Kelly put his players through their paces with a hastily arranged training session and insists his side go to Basford full of confidence.

"It'll be a tough match, Basford are a strong side and have obviously started the season well," Kelly said.

"We obviously had Saturday off, which helped some of our players who are carrying knocks get that extra bit of rest, but to be honest I'd rather have had a game to try and build on our win against Whitby."

Kelly goes into the clash without long term absentees Luke Porritt, Isaac Assenso and Kieran Weledji, but is hopeful that everyone else will be available for selection.

The game is set to be streamed live by Basford at a charge of £6.95.
