Scarborough Athletic have appointed former Blackburn Rovers scout David Lynch as their new head of player recruitment.

Lynch will work alongside boss Darren Kelly to help push Boro to their goals on the field.

He has a real passion for football recruitment and after completing his FA Talent Identification Level 2 he went onto spending a year as a regional scout with Blackburn Rovers, where he was lucky to work directly on a weekly basis with one of the first team scouts.

Continuing his desire to grow his tactical experience within the game, Lynch is currently working through his FA Coaching badges, and while away from this, he shadows coaching practices at a Category One professional football club two nights a week

Away from the field, Lynch is a multi-award winning entrepreneur with a fantastic track record of growing a business from start up to a seven-figure turnover establishment

The club are delighted to be able to bring David on board in a role where he will oversee all first-team player recruitment, opposition reporting, as well as developing key, long-term relationships with other clubs.

Lynch said: “As soon as I came over to the club to meet manager Darren Kelly and the board I knew this would be an opportunity I just couldn’t turn down.

"I have a chance alongside the amazing team already in place to really grow something special at this great town and club.

"I immediately clicked with the manager, his passion for the game is fantastic and this is a great opportunity for myself personally to learn and develop from such an experienced guy. I cannot wait to get started."

Boss Kelly added: "A good friend of mine put me in touch with David and we had a really good chat.

"I'm big into analysis and that side of the game because that can give you the extra percentage towards getting the result on matchdays.

"David has good pedigree, having worked in the Championship and I'm delighted to have him on board because he can offer big things to this club.

"The levels we have been discussing would be the kind of the thing that we were using when I was manager of Oldham Athletic.

"I'm really excited to work with him, I really think he can play a huge part in taking the club forward to where we want to be."

Chairman Trevor Bull added: "I met up with David on Saturday at the game, he came across superbly well and we look forward to working with him."
