Bull insists manager John Deacey’s performance is “under constant review” after fans took to social media to vent their anger at Tuesday night’s horror-show as Boro exited the Integro League Cup.

“We’re all really disappointed with the manner of the defeat, and that includes the board, the manager and the players, as well as the fans,” said Bull.

“John was gutted, as were the players who came to apologise to me and I expect a response from everyone now.

“We have some big games coming up, starting at Witton Albion on Saturday as we need to start moving up the table.”

On the subject of the manager’s immediate future after several fans called for him to be relieved of his duties, Bull added: “We’re a democratically-elected board and we operate in a democratic manner.

“We talk regularly about the performance of the team and now is no different, but we can’t just think about the next few weeks because of a bad run, we have to think about the longer-term future of the football club.

“Everything is under review but there isn’t anything in particular on the agenda at the moment.”

Several fans directed their anger at club officials, players and Deacey after the full-time whistle on Tuesday night, and Bull is keen to see the fans backing the club going forward.

“I think some fans forget that I am a supporter over everything else when they shout at me,” added Bull.

“We need to pull in the same direction on and off the field, even though I can understand their frustrations.”
