Scarborough Athletic manager Darren Kelly reveals how many signings he'd like to make this summer

Kelly admits he’d like to bring in up to six new additions to the club for the new season in order to “challenge at the right end of the table”.

“I think with maybe four, five or six new signings, we could certainly challenge at the right end of the table,” said the Boro boss.

“I’m not saying we will be topping the table as there will no doubt be some clubs who throw money at it as per usual, but I’d be very confident of us being up there in the mix.

“While I’m on with planning, the most important thing at the moment is the health and safety of our fans, players and officials, and everyone else of course.”

Kelly admits a lot of his plans will depend on what budget he is handed by the club’s hierarchy - which is yet to be confirmed.

However, that hasn’t stopped the former Oldham Athletic and Halifax Town gaffer from speaking to prospective new additions to the club.

Kelly added: “I have been speaking to a lot of players, both those who are already at the club and a few who I’d like to bring in should the budget allow it.

“Everything is on hold at present until the club confirm the budget we’ll be working with next season, although that is understandable given the current circumstances and the uncertainties surrounding sport at present.”
