Boss Darren Kelly is delighted to have tied the pair down for the new campaign.

"I'm delighted that both Kian and Luke have agreed to stay with us," said Kelly.

"Kian is a young player with great potential who can keep improving and getting better.

"I'd really like to see him focus on pushing and competing for a midfield position. I know he operated at wing-back last season, but I think he can go on and become a very good midfield player.

"He has a great attitude as well, he was fantastic for me after I came into the club and I'm pleased he's staying.

"Poz (Porritt) is a player I have known for a long, long time and I know exactly what attributes and strengths he brings to the side and again I'm really pleased he's staying.

"He is another player who can play in a number of positions and is a great player who have in the group and I'm over the moon he's going to be with us next season."

Spence and Porritt agreeing to stay with the club takes their squad up to 14, along with new signings Kieran Weledji, Kieran Glynn, Nathan Cartman and Michael Coulson, Ryan Watson, Chris Dawson, James Walshaw, Josh Barrett, Harry Coates, Jimmy Beadle, Ryan Blott and Isaac Assenso, who had already agreed deals to stay.

Three players are still in negotiations to stay with Boro, with goalkeeper Tommy Taylor, Wayne Brooksby and Pete Davidson yet to commit.
