Scarborough Ladies U15s and U16s march into York FA Cup finals
Scarborough Ladies FC Under-15s and Under-16s both booked their places in their respective York FA Cup finals on Saturday.
Scarborough Ladies Under-15s returned to East Ayton Playing Fields for the York FA Cup Girls semi-final clash against NYSA.
The teams had already met in a January York League game that saw Scarborough secure a narrow away win.
The first 20 minutes followed the previous clash.
An early goal from Milly Bowes pouncing on loose defensive passing was soon cancelled out by a superb NYSA shot to the top right corner.
NYSA then took the lead five minutes later but this seemed to jolt Scarborough into life, who started asserting their authority on the game thereafter.
A deft touch from Chloe McArthur nudged a high ball past two defenders for her to then place past the keeper.
Moment later McArthur picked the pockets of two defenders and sent a powerful shot home to pick up her brace.
Just ahead of the half-time whistle Bowes struck again, rounding a defender and the keeper to give Scarborough a 4-2 lead.
Scarborough found their groove in the second half and maintained control with some intricate passing.
A pinpoint cross from McArthur found Bowes at an empty back post and an acrobatic volley took a heavy deflection to go in.
Soon after, Mia Morris caught the NYSA defence off guard with a ball over the top from halfway - onrushing Macey Crane finishing with a shot past the keeper from the edge of the box.
Bowes ran another one in before Morris joined the scoresheet by dribbling past three defenders and scoring the last of the game to make the final score 8-2 and Scarborough advanced to the final.
Girl of the game went to Molly Lassey for what has become her customary commanding defensive efforts, with some incredible tackles throughout the game.
Scarborough Ladies Under-16s progressed through to the final after Isla Jones scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 away win against Dunnington.
Jones also received the accolade of Girl of the Game for her all round performance.
This sets up a final between Wigginton who sit top of the table. Scarborough drew with the leaders earlier in the season.
