Scarborough Saturday League: Itis Itis Rovers close the gap with win over Ayton

Itis Itis Rovers took advantage of their Division One title rivals all being in cup action as they beat Ayton 7-3 to move level on points with league leaders West Pier.

Mikey Barker was in scintillating form in front of goal as he fired in five goals for Jordan Lee’s side.

Rovers’ other goals came from man of the match Ryan Matson and Billy Gracie’s first goal for the club.

Nicko Dunn, Cam Alexander and Luke McNulty were on the scoresheet for Ayton, while Danny Collins was their man of the match.

Edgehill Reserves sealed a huge win in their bid to retain the Division Two title as they beat their nearest rivals West Pier Reserves 5-1.

Ted Edwards opened the scoring after 15 minutes, driving at the Pier defence and firing in from the edge of the box.

It was 2-0 at the break, Jake Reeves’ 35th-minute corner flying straight into the back of the net.

Pier gave themselves a chance of a fightback in the second half after Callum Myers made it 2-1, but 10 minutes later Reeves notched his second of the afternoon for 3-1.

A 75th minute penalty after a foul on Reeves was swept home by Jake Moore to make it 4-1 before the scoring was wrapped up by Gary Hepples’ free-kick after a foul on Joe Nock.

Edgehill Reserves boss Alec Coulson said: “From back to front to back was excellent.

“To have six lads under the age of 17 on the pitch made it even better.”

Jack Scarborough, Cal Plant and Brandon Catherall all impressed for Pier.

Snainton bagged a 5-1 win on the road at Scalby Reserves.

Leigh Watson bagged a brace and Zac Hansen, Jack Brown and Connor Bell all scored as Snainton led 5-0 at half-time.

Scott Wilson bagged a consolation goal for Scalby but it was too litte, too late for the Otters.

Regan Hewitt and George Hampton shone for Snainton, while Cameron McDonald was Scalby’s man of the match.

Eastfield Town won 6-2 on home soil against Goal Sports.

Plumpton’s men led courtesy of a debut goal from Steven Frederiksen, but Town hit three goals to take a 3-1 lead.

Dempsey Stubbings launched in a stunning long-range goal to make it 3-2, but it wasn’t to be for Sports s Town recored a 6-2 win.
