Scarborough Sunday League: Cooper brace helps Angel progress in Kenward Cup

Chris Milburn scored for Athletic, whose star man was Scott Ryan.

West Pier dumped Division Two side Angel Athletic Reserves out after a 5-2 victory.

Paddy Parke’s men progressed thanks to doubles from Taylor Jordan and Rich Tolliday and a Jack James strike.

Angel’s goals came from Joe D’Angelo and a Tom Sixsmith penalty.

Jordan Gillen and Mikey Anderson were Pier’s star men. while Jamie Hartley stood out for Angel.

Newlands weren’t at their best but edged through after beating Valley 2-1.

Man of the match Aidan McCallion and prolific striker Zac Hansen scored in the first half to put Dan Sheader’s men in charge.

Valley replied through Callum Randerson’s long-range free-kick in the second half and had chances to restore parity, but these were spurned and Newlands held on.

Valley boss Ben Kristensen felt his side deserved to win the game but for missed chances and singled out Alfie Lidgley as his side’s man of the match after a solid display in defence.

Roscoes Bar also moved into the next round after beating Saints 5-2.

Sam Collin hit two for the victors, whose other goals came via Graeme Farrah, Al Wray and Matty Rowley.

Trafalgar scored seven second-half goals in their 8-0 hammering of Cayton Corinthians in Division One.

Ryan Megginson and Danny Glendinning were in outstanding form in front of goal for Niall Gibb’s side as they both hammered in four goals apiece in their comfortable win.

Megginson was Traf’s man of the match while Leroy Donaldson stood out for Cayton.

Dan Blanchard smashed in a superb hat-trick to help Castle Tavern battle back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Fylingdales in Division Two.

A Tom Shrimpton penalty and Corey Wilson’s effort put Dales two goals to the good.

Blanchard bagged his first to half Tavern’s deficit heading into the break before notching a second on 65 minutes for 2-2.

The turnaround was completed after 80 minutes, Blanchard wrapping up his hat-trick and the win for Dan Thomas’ side.

Thomas singled out Blanchard and defensive midfielder Chris Jones as his side’s star men, while also praising goakkeeper Jim Houlder.

Ben Braim was Dales’ star man.
