In the only game to go ahead due to the wet weather over the weekend, Dales bagged their first three-point haul of the 2019/20 campaign thanks to player-boss Simon Forde's hat-trick.

Forde put Dales ahead before Sam Russell doubled the away side's advantage.

Tavern battled back to 2-1 as Chris Millson fired in for Dan Thomas' side, but a penalty from Forde ensured Dales led 3-1 heading in at the break.

Dan Blanchard bagged for Tavern on the hour-mark to make it 3-2, but Russell's second goal of the game then pushed Dales out to a 4-2 lead before Forde wrapped-up his treble for 5-2.

Tavern weren't done just yet though and goals from Thamuer Dridi and Blanchard's second made it 5-4 and set up a nervy finale to the encounter.

Tavern were denied a share of the spoils when Blanchard had a late goal disallowed and Dales held on to claim their first win of the season.

Curtis Robson was named as man of the match for the victors, while left-back Steve Chittenden and Millson were the star men for Tavern, with Sam Preston also impressing on debut.
