Seton students in top gear thanks to Mike Armstrong Foundation’s £1,000 donation
Seton Primary School in Staithes has been awarded a donation of £1,000 for their sports equipment from the Mike Armstrong Foundation.
The foundation was approached by the school to see if they could help fund some sports hoodies the children could wear when competing against schools in the Whitby area.
Shaun Evans, a teacher at Seton School, said: “These hoodies not only keep our young athletes warm but also foster a sense of unity and pride within our school community.
"A huge thank-you to The Mike Armstrong Foundation for the extremely generous donation to fund the hoodies Staithes Cricket Club and to Friends of Seton School - FOSS for their incredible support!
"Together, we are encouraging our children to stay active and engaged in sports.”
The Mike Armstrong Foundation was formed in 2021 in memory of Mike by his cricketing friends from the village of Staithes.
An annual cricket day was organised and is competed for in August each year by Staithes, Mulgrave, Hinderwell and Loftus.
During this one-day tournament, fund raising takes place through raffle BBQ and cake stalls, with all the proceeds going into the fund.
The fund itself aims to provide support to local sport, improving facilities within Staithes and also help provide juniors with funds for equipment.
The day has been supported by the community so well over the years and hopefully will continue to be for years to come to allow the fund to keep helping the local community.
This year the event will take place on Sunday August 2 at Staithes Athletic Club.
Anyone wishing to donate raffle prizes or get involved can contact Staithes CC for further details.
