Simm and Chapman leave Boro

Scarborough Athletic Reserves manager Gary Simm and his assistant Sean Chapman have decided to leave the club.

The duo returned to take over the Reserves side midway through last season, and helped steer the team away from the Humber Premier League relegation zone with five wins from the final fifteen games.

Unfortunately, increased work commitments for the Boro manager have forced him to leave his role.

Simm said: “I recently got a promotion at work, which has restricted the amount of time I have been able to put into preparing and picking the side recently.

“I have got to put my family first and with two young kids, something had to give.”

Simm leaves the club after four seasons involved with the Reserves, his first stint coming as assistant manager to Steve Brennan when the Athletic second string gained promotion from the HPL Division one in 2012/13.

“I have enjoyed every minute of my time at the club, from when I joined the Reserves under Steve to taking over the side together with Sean.

“It feels like the right time to go and let somebody new come in. I always said that if I couldn’t give 100% to this group of lads, then I would walk away.”
