Boro’s under-14s were shooting with the wind in the first half and took full advantage by taking a 4-0 lead at half-time.

Phoenix Sykes and Emily Lewis scored a goal each, and Ella Davis struck twice, although she could have had a third before the break, having a penalty well saved.

In the second half Boro played against the wind, but handled it superbly in defence, while the attacking did their stuff at the other end. Davis did complete her hat-trick and also added a fourth, as she took her tally for the club to 53 goals in 73 games over the past five seasons.

Sykes added her second, and Eille Smith completed the rout with her first goal since January.

The under-12s got back to form after defeat at York the previous week, by defeating Bishopthorpe 4-1.

Daisy Stokoe hit two to take her tally for the season to 11, Charlie Jowitt scored her second of the campaign and there was a debut goal for Aelish Rowntree.

Alice Collins excelled in goal for Jon Stokoe’s side.

The under-13s were well beaten in their home game against unbeaten Fulford, and although the under-16s and under-15s didn’t have a game, they stayed eighth and top of their respective tables.

This week sees the under-16s travel to face Cayton Corinthians in an exciting local derby, while all other competitive junior teams have a week off from league action.

However the under-14s play York RI in the quarter-final of the NRCFA County Cup at Sherburn, and the under-12s travel north to face Kader at the same stage of the same competition.

The under-11s team are at Bishopthorpe this week.
