SUNDAY LEAGUE: Traf hit double figures

Liam Salt led the way with four goals for Col Jenkinson’s side, while Wayne Aziz helped himself to a hat-trick.

Mikey Barker notched a brace, Kieran Link marked his Traf debut with a goal and Jordan Aitken netted with his first touch.

Boss Jenkinson was pleased with his side’s performance, with Barker, Link, Chris Cass and Alistair Jennings all impressing.

Newlands Park also kicked off their season with a dominant display, thrashing Roscoes Bar 9-0.

A Dan Freer double either side of a strike from Stu Bates saw Park go into the interval with a three-goal advantage.

Jack Ramos registered the first goal after the resumption before Bates grabbed his second of the day.

A double from Michael Wilson, a Mark Wade effort and another for man of the match Ramos rounded things off.

“We were very poor and didn’t help ourselves by gifting them three or four of their goals,” Roscoes boss Lee Paterson said.

“Nobody played particularly well for us, both Sean Rowley worked very hard in the centre of midfield.”

Fylingdales claimed a 7-2 home victory over Heslerton.

Jake Faichney hit a hat-trick for Dales, while Barry Heyes bagged a brace.

Sam Richardson and Mikey Kilpatrick were also on target for John Cuffling’s men.

A Lewis Grainge strike brought Heslerton back into the game at 2-1 before half-time, and player-boss Billy Bown was also on target, after the interval, but the pair’s efforts proved to be in vain.

Debutant centre-back Jack Boyd was named as the star man for the losing side.

West Pier’s home clash with First In Last Out was postponed.

In Division Two, Angel Athletic got off to a fine start to life in the Sunday League, winning 5-0 at fellow newcomers Ayton Reserves.

Jackson Jowett headed home from a corner to put Angel in front and Josh Dolan then added a second.

Lloyd Henderson slotted home number three before half-time to leave the visitors in full control.

In the second period, an own goal and a Neil Thomas strike put the gloss on a convincing display.

The central defensive pairing of Ben Mason and Callum Gravestock excelled for the victors.

Scalby, another side new to the league this season, got their maiden campaign in senior football underway with a 1-1 draw at Scarborough Campus.

Ben Quilter put the young village outfit ahead, but Keith Savage levelled things up for the university lads.

Josh Welburn took the man of the match honours for Scalby, while Mark Fawthrop was Campus’ star performer.

Trafalgar Reserves v Fylingdales Reserves and Newlands Reserves v Crown Tavern were both postponed.
