Tom Allan heads in dramatic injury-time leveller for Bridlington Town at Brighouse Town

Bridlington Town earned a dramatic late point at Brighouse Town after a chaotic afternoon that ended with Tom Allan rising highest in the 95th minute to head the Seasiders level.

The Pitching In Northern Premier League Division East game started with Brid on the front foot, winning an early free-kick and pushing Brighouse back through Ahmed Salam, interim player-manager Michael Coulson and Casey Stewart.

The latter twice went close inside the opening 10 minutes, testing the keeper with low efforts from the edge of the box, while Kasper Williams' header from a deep free-kick couldn’t beat the Brighouse goalkeeper.

Brid had the ball in the net on 27 minutes when a deep free-kick was headed at goal and spilled, with striker Jake Day finishing the rebound, but the assistant’s flag went straight up for offside.

The half became scrappy with a couple of yellow cards for dissent shown to Brighouse players, and Brid gloveman Jonathon Dash was called into action multiple times, making a strong one on-one save when Brighouse cut inside Allan.

But in the 43rd minute a long ball forward beat the back line, Dash came out, and a delicate lob by Romario Dunne put the home side 1-0 up at the break.

The second half saw Bridlington immediately pushing. Pete Davidson smashed one just wide from the edge of the box, and changes followed with Jak Whiting and Cam Blackburn coming on to try and find a spark.

Brighouse slowed the game right down, taking their time with every restart and making the contest very stop–start, but Bridlington kept creating chances.

Day again went close, firing over the bar as the pressure built.

At the other end Dash pulled off an incredible flying save to stop Brighouse doubling their lead after a one on-one break. Alex Huntsman came on for Joe Batty as the Seasiders threw everything forward.

Five minutes were added on, and Brig tried to keep the ball in the corner straight away, but the Seasiders kept pushing.

With seconds remaining the ball was worked back into the box and Allan rose above everyone, powering a header past the keeper in the 95th minute to level the game and send the travelling fans wild.

A huge moment for Brid Town and a thoroughly deserved point after a determined performance.
