Jamie Wray fired the visitors in front with a neat finish after some fine approach play and player-boss Andy Noon doubled this lead after linking up well with Mikey Barker, who made a superb debut up front for Traf.

Barker then got on the scoresheet to put Traf in control, although in the last 15 minutes before half-time the hosts came back into the game with a cracking finish from Carl Hepples.

Roscoes started strongly in the second half, with Matty Rowley hitting the post but Traf restored their three-goal advantage with a Kurtis Henderson header from a corner.

Sub Jack Pinder and Damian Robinson grabbed a goal apiece to complete the win for the visitors.

Noon was delighted with his side’s display and said the whole team deserved to share the man of the match award.

Roscoes Bar boss Lee Paterson added: “I can’t fault any of my team on effort, they were brilliant in that sense, just a lack of concerntration and a couple of mistakes cost us. The best team won on the night.”

West Riding claimed a 4-3 win at new club Scarborough Sports Barrowcliff.

Luke Jones fired James Prethero’s side, formerly known as Castle, in front after only four minutes with a fierce 20-yard free-kick and although the home side levelled soon after Riding were back in front on the 15-minute mark when Josh Young shot home from the endge of the box after some fine team play.

The visitors made it 3-1 in the 31st minute when man of the match Ryan Matson’s 20-yard shot nestled into the top corner of the net.

Jack South added a fourth after half-time to put Riding in the driving seat, but the home side roared back into contention and could have had a point but they had an effort ruled out for offside.

Prethero’s line-up included four 16-year-old players who have moved up from last year’s Phoenix under-16s team: “The young lads all did very well. We had Matty Turner in goal, he is a quality shot-stopper who commands his box, Callum Gravestock is a strong commanding centre-back, while pacy striker South and the versatile Young also played well.”

A new-look Newlands Reserves side earned a 3-0 win at Alma.

The visitors opened the scoring two minutes before half-time with a neat turn and shot from Ryan Tomlinson.

Seventeen-year-old striker Jamie Deyes doubled the lead for Dave Gaddass’ side, smashing his shot into the top right hand corner of the net.

Joe Sunter, who came on as a sub at half-time, scored the third goal from 20 yards to mark an impressive display.

Man of the match for Newlands was left-back Ryan Goodworth.

Gaddass said: “We have lost all but three of last year’s players to Scarborough Sports Barrowcliff so we have had to do a lot of recruiting over the summer and this was the first time they had played togather as a team.

“We are doing okay for players though as I had 16 lads for this match. We missed a lot of chances and could have won by more but credit goes to Alma as they never stopped working throughout the game.”
