Traf’s second string stretched their lead at the top of division to nine points thanks to their battling display at Oliver’s Mount.

Jack Ramos opened the scoring for hosts Newlands, but Glendinning drew the scores level before the break with a strike from the edge of the area.

Jones put Traf ahead after the interval with a cracking shot with the outside of his foot, but Newlands drew level when Ryan Cooper was fouled in the area and Shem Atkinson converted the spot-kick.

Glendinning restored the lead for Traf when he nipped in to head the ball before keeper Callum Myers could claim it.

Jones’ spectacular half-volley confirmed the three-point haul for the away side.

Trafalgar Reserves player-boss Mikey Barker said: “This was probably our toughest game of the season, due to the poor quality of the playing surface and the high quality of the opposition as Newlands had the likes of Ryan Cooper and Callum Myers in their line-up.

“It would be unfair to single out a man of the match as it was a great all-round team effort, and we now head into our next two games against Crown Tavern and Scarborough Campus looking to close in on the title.”
