Locality budgets are a two-year pilot scheme which allows the 72 county councillors to respond to local needs and requests by recommending funding of up to £5,000 for each of the two years to support projects or activities that benefit the communities.

West Pier runs a series of teams for the benefit of children aged four to 16 and are based at Northstead School.

The funding for the equipment, which includes portable goalposts, has partly come from Cllr Billing’s locality budget, and he said: “The teams are going from strength to strength, but still need all the support they can get.

“I am pleased I was able to support such a worthwhile venture which may benefit young people now and in the future.”

Alan Knight of West Pier Juniors added: “This funding provides the equipment required for an adequate and safe environment for the club to operate in.’’
