Whitby Town confirm York City friendly date

Whitby Town have confirmed a pre-season friendly fixture ahead of the 2021/22 season, with Lee Bullock and Nathan Haslam's side facing former Football League opposition on Saturday July 10.

This game will follow on from the Whitby Town Community Cup which is scheduled to take place the previous week, with local sides Fishburn Park, Whitby Fisherman's Society and Sleights FC taking part.

The Seasiders will welcome York City to the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground for the second year running, with the kick-off being at 3pm.

York are managed by former Newcastle United man Steve Watson and the National League side have optimistic plans for the future having recently moved into their new 8,500-capacity ground - the LNER Community Stadium.

Town have met the Minstermen on several occasions in the North Riding Senior Cup over the years, and Whitby also hosted the Minstermen ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, winning 2-0 against a strong City side in a behind closed doors encounter.

Ticketing information for the game will be released on whitbytownfc.com in due course, along with details of more pre-season friendlies as Bullock and Haslam's men prepare for another season in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League Premier Division.
