Whitby Town snap up three loan signings from Sunderland's Academy
Whitby Town Football Club has strengthened its squad with three strategic loan additions from Sunderland's Academy as the Seasiders prepare for the final stages of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division 2025-26 season.
The club has confirmed the loan signing of highly‑rated German‑born midfielder Elias Lenz from Sunderland.

Lenz, who has impressed within the Black Cats’ Under‑21 set-up, joins Town on loan until the end of the current campaign.
Having progressed through the renowned RB Leipzig Academy before his move to Sunderland, Lenz brings technical ability, composure and tactical intelligence to the Seasiders’ midfield ranks.
In addition to Lenz’s arrival, Whitby have secured Finlay Holcroft on a work experience loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.
The 18‑year‑old defender is regarded as one of Sunderland’s promising defensive talents and has featured regularly for both the Under‑18 and Under‑21 teams.
Primarily a centre‑back with versatility across the defensive line, Holcroft’s inclusion aims to add defensive resilience and depth to the squad as they navigate the closing fixtures of the campaign.
The club has also added attacking impetus with the signing of Charlie Dinsdale on a work experience loan from Sunderland.
Dinsdale, an 18‑year‑old attacking midfielder, has been a standout performer at youth level, contributing goals and creative play from advanced positions.
His arrival offers Whitby additional options in the attacking third, providing Joint-Managers Lee Bullock and Jason Kennedy with enhanced flexibility as the team strive for positive results in the run‑in as the Blues battle to stay in the Premier Division.
