Hewitt and Walker impress for YHT at York

Bob Hewitt (YHT SRC) took top spot on the podium in the Giant (York) Evening Series, forcing the pace through out the race Hewitt took a convincing win.

The winning theme was continued by Cavan Walker (Acre RT) who dominated the under-16 Youth A Race in the first round of the White Rose Youth League, taking his third consecutive win at York Sport.

YHT SRC sent a strong team to the North Yorkshire Evening Road Race League, hosted by Selby CC.

Unfortunately for Carl Martin, he was struck by misfortune with a puncture forcing him out of the race early on.

Dave Leaming (fifth) and Ian Parkin (sixth) led the team home.

Gary Whitton and Daryl Maffey finished in the bunch sprint but just missed out on Top 10 places.

More bad luck hit Peter Roebuck and Steve Norris who were caught up behind a crash in the closing stages removing any chance they had in competing for the sprint.

Round three of the National Mountain Bike Cross Country came to Dalby Forest at the weekend.

Set around Adderstone Field and the World Cup course, riders from as far as Guernsey and the Scottish Highlands enjoyed a full weekend of racing in the sun.

Richardson's CC had riders in many of the categories, Reuben Allanson finished second in Saturday's fun category completing one lap in 23:35.

Club stalwart Dan Joyce rode his single speed plus bike to 20th place in the open category, completing 2 laps in 51:37.

Sunday's racing started bright and early with the under-18 races.

Megan Simpson, competing in her first National Level MTB event came home 11th in the juvenile girls completing two laps in 1:10:14.

Joe Prole, also competing for the first time at this level finished 36th in the juvenile boys, two laps in 1:07:01.

Cavan Walker, who was gridded 52 out of 53 starters, worked his way through the field to finish 23rd, three laps in 1:05:00.

Fresh from riding the Tour De Yorkshire, Danby rider Frazer Clacherty, riding for the British Cycling Team, rode against a high quality international field in the Elite race.

Clacherty rode five laps in a time of 1:33:00 to finish in 16th place.

Richardson's CC ran a Go-Ride event through out the weekend, offering riders who were too young to race in the main races to try their hand at a skills course and to test their speed in a short off-road time-trial.
