LEE DOUGLAS: Old Brods effort our best yet

I'd go as far as to say Saturday's performance at Old Brodleians would be up there with the best since I came to the club.

It was an exceptional performance from every single player - to go to Brods and win in testing conditions is a huge ask - so credit to the guys.

As the players know, I’m not a particularly easy person to please, but I can have no complaints whatsoever about Saturday.

The performance of our backs was without doubt the best I’ve seen in this league, in particular Devin Ibanez at open-side flanker.

He was phenomenal, he terrorised their number 10 to the point he didn’t want the ball.

While I’ve singled out Devin, every player who went out there deserves a huge amount of credit for their efforts.

We controlled the game and made a good Brods side look very average.

The guys really made a statement to the league on Saturday.

We all know we are good enough to beat anyone in this league on our day, it’s just been a problem with consistency for us.

I fancy our chances of being up there come the end of the season, but we have to maintain our form from Saturday going into a tough run of fixtures.

We’ve got Heath on Saturday and I have no doubt that will be a difficult game.

After that we have Hullensians, York and Bridlington, all tough games, but we know we can win against them.

We were incredibly unlucky when we went to Brid, and the scoreline really did flatter them.

Since that game they’ve gone from strength to strength and picked up some good results.

We need to be firing on all cylinders when they come to Silver Royd, and hopefully we can pick up a big win to end 2016 on a high.

We’re hoping Isaac Faamau will be available for selection sooner rather later.

He’s a key player for us and we’ve missed him.
