LEE DOUGLAS: Tackling cost us dearly at York

Saturday's defeat at York was incredibly disappointing.

The lads started really well, put some good phases of play together and we were 7-0 up.

After that though, the guys just decided to sit back and we invited York onto us and we couldn’t get our hands on the ball for a while.

York are a strong side and we didn’t tackle well enough to stop them in their tracks. Had we hit our first tackles then I believe we wouldn’t have lost that game.

One of the positives from the game was the performance of Tom Harrison.

After Jordan Wakeham went off and Tom Ratcliffe had done a shift at scrum-half, Tom ended up there and he excelled. Tom stood out for us on the day, he was on fire throughout the game.

On reflection though, the scoreline just about fairly reflected the game.

Our defeat now makes Saturday’s big derby clash against Bridlington even more crucial for us.

It was already a massive game for us, but having lost more ground on the leaders, it’s not even more important.

One thing is clear, we’ll have to improve to get anything from the game.
