Chilton earns Baxter win at Harwood Dale

Andy Chilton from Whitby scored a great win first time out on the new works Beta at Scarborough DMC’s Jacky Baxter trial at Harwood Dale on Sunday.

A tough four-lap, 10-section course around the old army camp tested the best, but Chilton`s experience in contesting British and World Championship rounds this last year helped dramatically and, although “a little rusty first lap” - his words - he settled to rattle off consistent lap scores that kept strong riding Richmond visitor Rob Waite in runner-up berth.

Kirkbymoorside’s Dan Peace had a torrid first lap, a couple of uncharacteristic fives on section five and 10 doing the damage, but he recovered well to finish third.

Mike Noble, also from Whitby, put a great ride together to finish third in a strong Clubman A class behind the experienced Scarborough duo of Mark Taylor and Andy Lockwood and the Eboracum lads, Bryan Kendra and John Stones, had a great battle in Clubman B, Kendra getting the verdict by four marks, with the battling Dave Wardell third after losing a scrappy three on the seventh where Kendra and Stones cleaned.
