In-form ​Andy Chilton earns expert win at Scarborough DMC Trial

Three laps of 12 sections around the old army camp did the job, taking eight marks from the expert winner Andy Chilton, only the awkward seventh causing him problems with a loss of seven, writes John Watson.

Scorton youngster, Elliot Laws, tried his best to stay with the experienced Scorpa rider but double-figure scores on the second and fifth hazards dropped him off the pace.

York’s Alick Sharp topped the Intermediate class with 16 lost, but it was Scarborough’s Bill Reeves, aboard the MBR-sponsored Sherco - riding in the Youth Intermediate class - that produced the best score on this route, only 12 marks lost.

Moving up the age ladder Helmsley’s Pete Clements and Lastingham’s Duncan McDonald battled hard for Twinshock honours, the result eventually going McDonald’s way when Clements fived the third.

With a good crop of youth riders performing, solid rides came from Jacob Smith to clinch the Youth D class win and from Cole Gallagher to take the Youth Novice class win.
