On the other rink, Howarth/Howarth/Philpott had raced into an 8-1 lead by end 6 but by end 10 their opponents had reduced the deficit to just three shots at 11-8.

Four shots to Bridlington on the next end took them clear and they went on to take five of the remaining seven ends to clinch a 28-9 victory.

With all 6 points going to the Alex, this takes them to the top of their division.

The Vets A team were away to Kingston B in Division A of the Vets League and Buckle/Mitchell/Mitchell were soon in command on their rink, leading 13-1 after the first nine ends.

Kingston could not keep up, with the Bridlington triple winning four of the remaining ends to give them an impressive 20-11 win.

McCall/Hutchinson/McCall were involved in a much closer game.

They led 10-1 after the first three ends but Kingston then won the following seven ends to take a three-shot lead.

The Alex triple drew level on end 13 but again their opponents hit back and won four of the last five ends to earn a 17-14 victory.

Four out of the six points available went to Bridlington.

The Midweek League had Brid Alex playing a double header against neighbours Burton Agnes with both A and B teams at home.

For the A team, McCall/Hobson/McCall started slowly and were 7-0 down after seven ends but a fightback saw them level the game by end 7.

The next three ends went to Burton Agnes to give them a 12-7 lead but the Bridlington triple hit back yet again to draw level on end 12.

By end 15 the visitors had taken a 15-13 lead but 8 shots to the Alex over the following two ends took them into a commanding 21-15 lead.

Although the visitors won the final end the Bridlington triple ran out 21-16 winners.

Buckle/Mitchell/Mitchell similarly set off slowly and were 6-2 down by end 7.

Nine shots to them over the next three ends took them into the lead but from here they stuttered and lost seven of the remaining 8 ends to hand their opponents an 18-12 win. Only two points to Bridlington on this occasion.

The B team had a much easier encounter with Nicolson/Morgan/Booth racing into a 19-5 lead by end 11.

Five shots to Burton Agnes on the next end gave them some hope but the deficit was too great with Bridlington eventually winning 23-16.

Paylor/Talbot/Scruton went 6-1 up after just four ends but their opponents fought back an went into a 9-6 lead by end 9.

From this point the Alex triple steadied themselves and went on to win all of the remaining ends to record a 23-9 victory. All six points to Bridlington B.

With the A team having a bye on Thursday all attention was on the B team at home to Sledmere in Division 2.

Allen/Morgan/Booth were involved in a very close game being 7-6 up after seven ends and 12-7 down after 10.

By end 12 they had narrowed the gap to just a shot but Sledmere took the next two ends to move into a 17-11 lead.

Undaunted, the Bridlington triple then won the next 4 ends to record a 20-17 win.

Meanwhile, Paylor/Talbot/Scruton were never really in contention on their rink winning only 6 of the 18 ends and giving Sledmere a 21-15 victory. Only two points to Bridlington.

With the Independent League team enjoying a bye on Friday all attention focuses on their cup semi-final at home to Beeford next week at 6.30pm at South Marine Drive.
