Due to some treacherous conditions underfoot on parts of the traditional course due to the wintry weather, which is one of the toughest of the six races, rather than abandon the fixture, the Bishop Wilton course was amended, but otherwise retained most of testing nature of the course, which included the steep downhill to the finish, writes Mick Thompson.

Scarborough’s Daniel Bateson, who has been most successful at Fell Races this year, achieved his best result this season when finishing third overall of 245 and was first Over-40.

The weekly five-kilometre Parkrun events were greatly affected by the snowy and icy conditions on the courses.

Just four club members took part in the North Yorkshire Water Park Parkrun, and their fortitude resulted in achieving some good results overall and in their age groups.

Hester Butterworth was second female overall of 24 and first Over-40.

Harry Whitehouse was first Over-70, Mike Padgham first Over-65 and Suzanne Villiers third Over-60.

Dave Shipley was the only club member at the Sewerby Parkrun, he finished in 29th overall of 91 and was first Over-65.
